Well, 8 months plus one day, but the pictures are from the actual 8 mos. mark.
Still in her 6-9 month stuff, so I am guessing she is around 18 lbs. maybe? No teeth, although there have been a few nights were we suspected teething. No words yet, but lots of babbling (ab-dab-dab being a favorite, and something that sounds a lot like ‘hi dada’). Lots of movement, but nothing that would qualify as crawling—two knees, two hands, roughly co-ordinated. There is dragging, and scooting, and reaching…but no real crawling. Very, very close however, especially when big sister’s hair is not too far away.
M loves peekabo, and will look expectantly if you hide behind something. Gets her hands into the (mostly) right positions to help put on her onesies. Is getting the hang of books, and will touch the feely parts of touchy-feely books. Pretty good in the sling, only so-so in the car. Still on the 2 45 minute nap schedule (argh) and still waking up at night, but has been going down around 5:30 or 6 and getting up at 7 or 8 this week. Pretty nice, although that has thrown off the schedule for getting C to school.
Pursues her food spoon with vigor and excitement. Has had avocado, banana, mango, raspberries, blueberries, carrots, squash, sweet potato, peas, spinach, prunes, pears, applesauce…I think that is it. Seems to like them all.
Won’t keep socks on.
Loves toys, and will play happily while I shower or prep lunch (i.e., for five or so minutes at a time as long as I am in view). Shows a propensity for chewing on clothing and shoes, unfortunately. Have to be careful where I leave my slippers. Has discovered the joys of the tupperware cupboard (and led C to rediscover those joys!)
Won many, many accolades at the craft show (Urban Craft Uprising) this weekend. We fit in well with baby in a sling and in a row of nursing mama-baby pairs! Also attracts weird comments from people though—I seem to continually get “she’s so big!” comments, when she is in fact right at the 50th percentile. And a neighbor at a party this weekend said “Look at that hair! Just like Christopher Lloyd!” So not cool (also, his wife kept calling me Barb…)
Still does floaty hands and kicky feet. Pats me on the back when I pick her up. Is very, very sweet and snuggly, and can’t wait to see her extended family at Christmas!
